Ren J. Carlton, CPA, CSMC is a native Michigander. Ren graduated with honors from Oakland University and went to work for both large and small public accounting firms. With a strong desire to implement his own ideas, Ren moved into private industry and served as the Chief Financial Officer for a Tier 1 manufacturing company in Troy, Michigan. Although his role as Chief Financial Officer provided more consistent hours and a lucrative salary, Ren still felt he wasn’t following his “star.”

In January of 2000, Ren launched Dynamic Advisory Solutions out of his basement with virtually no clients or contacts. Ren spent every spare minute working on DAS; planning, seeking financing, networking, and experimenting with new marketing techniques. During the early years, Ren supplemented his income through teaching. Ren taught managerial and cost accounting at Baker College, Continuing Professional Education classes to other CPAs through the Michigan Association of CPAs, and entrepreneurial classes through Adult Community Education programs.
By 2005 Ren had grown Dynamic Advisory Solutions into a full-fledged management consulting firm. Now that Dynamic Advisory Solutions enjoyed a nice book of clients and an outstanding staff, Ren revisited his teaching passion. He found the excitement of pursuing “The American Dream” so much fun that he decided to share his experiences on the radio. Ren launched The Business Reality Network radio program in 2005, a show specifically designed for aspiring entrepreneurs and established business owners. The format includes business advice, business news, guests (entrepreneurs, executives, and subject-matter experts), and calls from the listening audience. In 2007, Ren was awarded The Michigan Small Business Journalist of the Year Award by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Almost exactly 10 years after founding Dynamic Advisory Solutions out of his basement with virtually no clients or business contacts, founder Ren Carlton launched Global CFOs. Global CFOs is a franchising company with the mission of expanding the Dynamic Advisory Solutions business model globally.
Ren has participated in numerous non-profit organizations, including the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) Ethics Task Force, the Detroit Chapter of Entrepreneur’s Organization (EO) Board of Directors, and the Troy Community Foundation Board of Directors. Ren enjoys reading, learning, golf, poker, competing, and teaching. Ren is energetic, passionate and ready to share his passion and experience with your organization!
